Having a baby is undoubtedly one of the most amazing things in an entire woman’s life, but there are many things that other mothers won’t tell you. Staying at home might seem a luxury to many individuals, but it is not! Staying at home cause mental anguish and can even lead to depression. What is post partum depression? This is simply a type of depression, which typically occurs after your baby has been delivered. So, how do you know, whether or not you’re suffering from what I like to call “mom depression”? Well, you should take the time to look at the symptoms of this type of depression. These will be listed below for your consideration

  • Losing interest in your baby
  • No energy or motivation
  • Loss of appetite
  • Sleeping more frequently
  • No longer caring about yourself
  • Frequent negative thoughts towards your child

Post partum psychosis is significantly more serious and can cause much more alarming problems. Although it is typically very rare, it is still a good idea to know the signs! If you believe that you’re suffering from postpartum psychosis it is absolutely imperative to seek medical attention immediately. The signs of post partum psychosis can be found below.

  • Hallucinations
  • Anxiousness and Irritation
  • Mindless thoughts
  • Constant mood swings
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Hyperactivity

Again, if you’re facing any of these problems, it is absolutely imperative to take action, as soon as possible.



When it comes down to it, you will have three different treatment options available to you, including counseling, medications and hormone therapy. As far as medications go, you will likely be prescribed SSRI, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa and Prozac. Typically, it will take a few weeks, before you’re able to experience as results. Although you love your baby, it is still possible to suffer from post partum depression. Don’t feel ashamed, because this is entirely natural.
