Newborn Eyesight Development

The fetus begins to develop his eyes and ears around the 6th week of gestation and the eyelids begin to partially cover the eyes, by the 7th week. By the 10th week the eyelids are more developed and will begin to close. During the 11th-14th week, the eyelids will close and not open until the 28th week, at which time they will begin to open and close. Your baby has left the embryo stage and is now in the fetal stage. Around the 22nd week the eye lashes and eyebrows will begin to appear and will be well-formed, by the 26th week.
