Some children will refer to their babies as babies, toddlers, youngster and many other adorable phrases, but is there a logic behind such terms? When should you begin referring to your child, as a toddler? Below, I will attempt to answer that question for you!

 

When Is A Child Considered A Toddler

When a child hits a certain age, they’ll be categorized, as a toddler. Unfortunately, there isn’t necessarily a set date that is universal for all children. The phrase actually developed, due to the world “to toddler”, which means that the child is barely able to walk and will do so unsteadily. When your child hits that stage and begins to wobble on their legs, they can be referred to as a toddler.

 

What Age Does A Child Become A Toddler

Honestly, this can happen anywhere between the ages of one and three. A child’s toddler years are very important to their emotional, cognitive and social development. Of course, the term toddler is used for various purposes and could be used as a term of affection, if desired, so it is somewhat subjective.

 

Normal Vital Signs For Toddlers

In order to keep track of your toddler’s health, you may want to monitor their vital signs, such as their blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate. The average and normal figures for a toddler will be provided below.

  • Blood pressure systolic – 80 to 110
  • Blood pressure diastolic – 50 to 80
  • Heart Rate BPM – 90 to 140
  • Respiratory Rate – 20 to 40

 

Recommended Weight For A Two Year Old

Once your child hits the age of two, they should be happy and healthy. During this period of time, it is vital to make sure that your toddler weight’s around 11 to 13 kg and is 80 to 82 cm tall. Of course, this will vary depending on a variety of different factors. Regular checkups are vital and will help to ensure that your child is entirely healthy!
